2011 Parent Spring Survey Results
June, 2011
The "Spring Survey" findings showed that the families were 67% very satisfied and 33% satisfied with the overall quality of the program. 100% of the families felt that their child was well cared for in the program. In addition, 100% of the families felt their child was happy and enjoyed participating in the program. Here are some personal comments written by families on the survey: "I appreciate the fact that I don't worry when she is with you all. She is very happy here." "We love this program. We only wish we had more time to help the school and spend time with other families." "AGUMCC has exceeded all our expectations. Thank you for your hard work and dedication."
According to the survey, the most popular reason why families have chosen our program was for socialization and the next reason was for the age-appropriate curriculum. Not all of the families that turned in the surveys participated in Parent/Teacher Conferences. Of those who did, they found the conferences were informative. Also, the conferences showed that their child had achieved his/her goals and was ready to move forward.
Regarding "Parent Volunteer Opportunities" or "Parent Involvement: Two-thirds of the parents would like to help with classroom projects rather than Fundraising. Parent Involvement is the key to the success of our program. It provides opportunities for families to meet one another and keep tuition costs down. There are ten activities throughout the year, any of which can vary from social to informational to fundraising. All the activities include a spark of FUN while providing opportunities to meet other parents of the program. Again, this year, the most popular activity was the Holiday Program in December. The second runner-up was the Regatta event that took place in February. According to the survey, only 33% wanted to help with fundraisers. A comment made was, "We wish we had more time to help." Remember many hands make the work light. Fundraisers help raise money for things the school needs. The fall fundraiser helps us purchase new material and supplies. The two winter fundraisers support the staff going to conference so they can become better teachers. The spring fundraiser helps to make needed improvements to the program. Without fundraisers, the cost of tuition would go up.
The Arroyo Grande United Methodist Children's Center Board would like to thank you for taking the time to complete the survey. The findings are beneficial and very important in providing information we need to improve our program. The survey showed the main area for improvement was "better teacher communication with parents". Our goal is to continue to improve in this area. It can be challenging for the teachers and parents to get connected because of busy schedules. The best time for the teachers and parents to communicate is during drop off or pick up. If this does not work, call the classroom or leave a note for the teacher indicating when would be a good time for the teacher to reach you. We look forward to a fun and exciting new school year nurturing the development of children and fostering new friendships between our children, families, and staff.
Sincerely,
Maddy Quaglino, AGUMCC Director
