Message from Ms. Maddy:
As we are in the season of celebrations, please complete your “Family Heritage and Cele-
bration Information Sheetby Nov. 8th and return it to your child’s teacher. This project will
help us learn more about your family and the traditions you may celebrate to build better home
and school relationships. If your family has a tradition you want to share with your child’s class-
mates, please tell your child’s teacher or message them through the Child Pilot App. We hope
everyone feels connected as we invite you to share more about your family.
Every year, our school and the Mission’s Team of the First United Methodist Church has a
Community Service Project called “PENNIES AND SPARE CHANGE FOR TUR-
KEYS.This project brings awareness to others needs. The children made contain-
ers to take home to collect spare change
.
Please return the container by Friday, Nov
22nd. The money raised will be given to the “Five Cities Christian Women's Food
Pantry.” They, in turn, will buy turkeys for families in need this holiday season. We have raised
over
$ 5,000
since 2008. Our goal this year is to raise $500.
Did you know that every $1 do-
nated equals $10 at the food bank?
Please help us make a difference in our community by sup-
porting this special project.
We are having a virtual Yum-Raiserselling

Ms. Swati TK Class
Happy Fall Everyone! The children enjoyed
the various fall art activities like painting an apple
core, leaf rubbing art, fun pumpkin activities, and
the culmination of the Pajama Day Party, which they
were looking forward to all of October. Thank you
to everyone for bringing in a pumpkin. We did a
pumpkin investigation. The children measured how
tall their pumpkins were using unit cubes. They
counted the lines on their pumpkins and how big
around their pumpkins were. In addition, we did a
science experiment to see whether a pumpkin can
float or sink. Moreover, we talked about the pump-
kin life cycle and the parts of a pumpkin. We
watched a video called “Dissect a Pumpkinby Sci
Show Kids and learned that a pumpkin is a fruit.
Lastly, this month's focus was on Kindness. The TK
class children showed various acts of kindness and
received several Kindness Cards every time they
showed an act of Kindness.
For November, we will continue our fall ac-
tivities but move our focus from pumpkins to acorns.
The sensory bin is now full of beautiful fall things
like pumpkin gems, acorns, and leaves for sorting.
We also have some hungry squirrels in the math ar-
ea who need to be fed some acorns based on the
number they have printed on their tummies. We also
have alphabet acorns in the manipulatives area
where the children match the uppercase letter with
the lowercase letter. We will also spend our time
talking about what we are thankful for as we get
closer to Thanksgiving. We will hear the story of
Daniel and how he was faithful to God, and God pro-
tected him as he faithfully prayed for protection in
the lion’s den. We hope you and your family have a
safe and happy Thanksgiving and want you to know
that we are very grateful for each one of the chil-
dren and families in our class!
In love, light, and learning, Ms. Swati
Ms. Liz’s Preschoolers
November is here. The children have
learned so much in the time they have been at
school. They are practicing caring
for their own needs, such as
cleaning up after themselves af-
ter lunch and snacks. They are
also very proud to show their
bubble gloves (soap lather) to
their peers and teachers while washing their
hands. This month, we will work on various art
projects, such as hand-printed turkey placemats
and collage art. The children will continue to
practice their cutting skills and learn to recog-
nize numbers and letters. At group time, snack,
and lunchtime, children are learning to spell
their and other children's names as they pick up
their jobs for the classroom job chart.
Children are showing great interest in pump-
kins and leaves. They are excited to see liz-
ards crawling on the ledge in the courtyard.
Children pretend to be dinosaurs and make
roaring sounds as they chase each other. They
are using the brooms and rakes outside, and
we are discussing the leaves changing and fall-
ing. They enjoy building and jumping around an
obstacle course.
This month of Giving, we are discussing
families with diverse cultures and learning to
be thankful for the things God has blessed us
with. I wish all the preschool families a Happy
and Healthy Thanksgiving this year. ~Ms. Liz
Ms. Cindy Bo and Ms. Sibyl’s Toddlers
It is the time of year when we acknowledge all
that we have to be grateful for. As we welcome
the month of November, we are grateful for
the wonderful school family we have here at
AGUMCC. We are thankful for each child, fam-
ily, and staff member who is part of our little
program. We have missed Ms. Sibyl these past
few months and are especially thankful for her
return to work, bringing her unique contribu-
tions back to our program.
In October, the children enjoyed ex-
ploring the pumpkins and gourds that filled the
classroom. They were also very curious as they
helped to pull the seeds and pulp out of two of
our pumpkins to get them ready for carving.
We carved a “happyJack-o-lantern and a “sad
Jack-o-lantern. They also created some elabo-
rate block structures that they used to stage
the farm animal play figures on and practiced
farm animal sounds as we sang, “I went to visit
a farm one day.The toddlers especially had
fun dancing, hand in hand, in a circle, to the
“Barnyard Boogie.They learned about farm
work such as “bailing hay,” “Milking cows, and
“Chopping woodas we talked about the lyrics
to this song and had some pictures of these
tasks to share with them. It was a busy and fun
month.
This month we will spend time talking
and sharing about our families and all we have
to be thankful for. The children will have the
opportunity to share their “Family Photo
Boardswith their classmates. If you have not
returned your child’s board, this would be the
perfect time. Please let us know if you need a
new poster board to create your child’s family
photo collage on. Have a blessed month, stay
warm, and enjoy this special season with
your family.
