It has been a pleasure getting to know eve-
ry child this school year. We have really enjoyed
our first month of TK and learning about your chil-
dren. We hope they are enjoying their new class as
the “Big Kids,” as many said. We are looking for-
ward to getting to know each other more as the
year continues.
In July, we spent time getting to know each
other. The children explored and enjoyed the dif-
ferent areas in the classroom, such as the manipu-
latives, blocks, library, science, math, and dramatic
areas. We also introduced the class schedule,
which is in the front of the class in picture form
and on the door. We talked about TK's expecta-
tions and rules and how important it is to be re-
spectful, responsible, and safe. In addition, chil-
dren sorted picture cards and said whether it was
a green or red choice. Children have been finding
bugs in the courtyard, and they have been enjoying
building structures in the block area.
We started our school year with an ocean
theme, in which children painted a large butcher
paper using brushes and sponges to create differ-
ent textures. We also included different shades of
blue, in which children had fun mixing and creating
new colors. We talked about what their favorite
sea animal was, and during group time, we watched
videos and learned about those animals. In addi-
tion, in the second group, children dance and move
using their creative movements, which they enjoy.
We also did an emotional activity of the children's
feelings and why.
In August, we will be introducing our ZooPhonics
alphabets and numbers. On Tuesdays and Wednes-
days, we will introduce our “Share” time; children
can bring items like pictures, drawings from the
internet, or a magazine corresponding to the
week's letter. For example, A is for apple, and
bring a picture of an apple. We will laminate their
paper and put them together in an ABC binder.
Moreover, in August, our bible story will focus on
Trustworthy, and the story will be “A Short Man”
Zacchaeus.
It was nice meeting some of the parents at
the Orientation Night. Thank you for taking your
valuable time! I look forward to getting to know
you and your child and being a part of their growth
and development. ~ Ms. Elvia

What a wonderful summer we had in the Pre-
school class. We welcome August as we “officially”
return to school this month. Thank you to the fami-
lies for being supportive and flexible in July as we
are adjusting to a new classroom, routines, and
friends. The children are getting accustomed to
their new schedule and new expectations wonder-
fully. They have shown great pride in being in the
“big kid” classroom.
The Family Boards have been a big hit with
our friends. The children delight in showing pic-
tures of their loved ones to each other and com-
paring how we are alike and different. We appreci-
ate the time that each family took to make this for
their child.
Last month, we focused on becoming com-
fortable with our classroom and teachers. We have
learned all about circles and are now noticing them
everywhere! This month, we will focus on ourselves
and our families. We will draw pictures of our fami-
lies and make adorable self-portraits as we contin-
ue to bridge the gap between home and school.
We will begin collecting data for your child's up-
coming fall conference in September. Everyone has
developed a great routine of dropping off their
children in the morning and during pickup. Please
make sure to check your child's folder for artwork
and notices. In addition, please look in their cubby
for any soiled clothing that may need to come
home. Dressing your child in layers for their school
day is also helpful. The weather can fluctuate from
very cold in the morning to hot in the afternoon.
Thank you to the families who have helped with
laundry and donated items to the school; we great-
ly appreciate it. We look forward to another excit-
ing month with you and your children.
Thank you, Elizabeth Delory

July was a very busy and fun month for us
in the toddler room. I was so thankful for the ex-
tended time off following our summer break be-
fore my dad’s passing. I was blessed to have that
time with him and to know God would take care of
things during my absence that first week of the
new school year.
I have enjoyed getting to know Ms. Sibyl
and appreciate what she brings to our toddler pro-
gram and her caring nature with the children. We
have both enjoyed getting to know our new group
of toddlers and their families, too.
The new children have been quick to learn
our daily routines and are becoming more confident
as they engage in various activities and with each
other. Our experienced toddlers have been instru-
mental in showing them the ropes. We've had a lot
of fun with various activities and have focused on
helping the children communicate their feelings,
needs, and interests and navigate through conflicts
with each other.
The children have shown a lot of interest in
dramatic play and large motor activities, so we will
be looking for ways to add to and expand on those
interests this month.
We look forward to another fun month together.
Please let us know if you have any questions about
your child’s school experience. We truly enjoy
building relationships with each of your unique and
precious children. ~ Cindy Bo
